Essential Scaffolding Safety Inspection Checklist
Safety is the foundation of every successful construction project. Use this expert-verified checklist to minimize risks.
Scaffolding accidents are among the most common risks in the industry. At Oscaffold, we believe high-quality equipment must be paired with rigorous inspection.
1. Foundation and Ground Conditions
The entire structure's stability depends on the ground it stands on. Ensure that:
- The ground is firm, level, and well-drained.
- Base jacks are placed on solid mudsills (timber pads) to distribute the load.
2. Structural Integrity (Modular Systems)
For Ringlock or Cuplock systems, verify the locking mechanisms:
- Ringlock Rosettes: All wedges are driven home and secure.
- Cuplock Cups: Top cups are hammered tight to lock the ledgers.
3. Working Platforms & Guardrails
Falls are the leading cause of injury. Inspect the following:
- Steel Planks: No gaps exceeding 25mm between planks. Boards must be secured.
- Guardrails: Top rails (approx. 1m high) and mid-rails must be installed on all open sides.
